Fountain Care and Upkeep

• Use hard water treatments to keep your fountain water clear and prevent white scale build-up.
• For outdoor fountains, use an algaecide in the water. Algae can interfere with the pump operation and cause overheating.
• Do not use bleach as an algaecide or cleaner as it can damage the finish of your fountain and its pumping mechanism.
• Empty and cover your fountain in winter if there is a danger of freezing temperatures. Allowing standing water to freeze in your fountain can cause cracking or pitting of the stone.
• Keep your fountain filled. Running the pump dry can damage the mechanism through overheating. It’s recommended that you turn off your fountain at night or when out of the house, as you will not be able to monitor the water level.
• Your pets may love to drink out of the fountain. If they do, be sure to change the water frequently and use caution when adding chemicals.
